Alert severity

Alerts are issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) and are organized by severity level, |

Warning — Issued when hazardous weather or hydrologic events occur, are imminent, or have a very high probability of occurring; conditions pose a threat to life and/or property.
|

Watch — Indicates risk of hazardous weather or hydrologic events has increased significantly, but occurrence, location, and/or timing is still uncertain. Intended to provide enough lead time to prepare for the event(s).
|
|
Advisory — Highlights special weather conditions for events that may cause significant inconvenience, and if caution is not exercised, could lead to situations that may threaten life and/or property.
|
|
Statement — Issued when weather conditions are a cause for concern or are approaching advisory level.
